Sheesh.
So our sweet, sweet Beck had his ear tubes put in last Friday and all went well. He appears to be hearing better because he's just yammering up a storm lately. He and Kyle spend lots of time having shouting matches. :)
Well, on Wednesday evening we noticed he was warm and sure enough he had a temp of about 100.4. Gave him some Tylenol and called it a day. Thursday morning he had a higher temp that eventually reached 102. Yikes. He wasn't fussy, just sleepy. I took him to the pediatrician because I thought he'd come down with a virus, but just wanted to be sure.
Sure enough, his left ear looked inflamed and she couldn't see the tube. Hmmm. She prescribed his #3 antibiotic that he routinely uses and told us to call his ENT.
We got in to the ENT this afternoon and he said Beck's ear is blocked with 'debris' (his word) of dried blood and tissue from getting the tube put in. He thinks that his ear dried out too much, which didn't let all the junk drain out. Now it's blocking the tube so he can't see if it's still in there. He needs to suction the junk out, but risks pulling out the tube and really hurting Beck if he does it now. So he prescribed new ear drops that should really loosen the crud and told us to keep him on the antibiotic since he has a fever. He suspects the ear is infected as well.
Ugh.
We are continually praying for his little ears and body to fight off these nasty infections. Enough is enough!
