We just got back from our First Annual Allen Family of Four Vacation, aka Griswold Family Vacation.
We went to Caddo Lake, which is out in east Texas. Oh my goodness, if you've never been to this lake you are missing out! It's the only natural lake in Texas and it is GORGEOUS!
We stayed in a house boat that has been turned into a rental home. We thought it would be fun for the boys to stay in a real boat for a few days. They had a blast in it; the novelty wore off for me and Matt after about an hour. Let's just say we won't be renting from these people again.
We had a really good time. We did a hike through the state park, did some canoeing, and hired a guide to take us on a tour of the lake...it has a very interesting history.
Funny story: our boat guide and Matt went to high school together! They didn't know each other, but know some of the same people. Small world!
Per usual, our boys are not good travelers and get antsy about an hour into the trip. Luckily we had snacks for them to keep shoveling in and occupied for awhile. And per usual, the trip home took twice as long as it did to get there! That's how we roll in this family!
Here is our weekend in pictures!
