The Goings-On

Whew! These past few weeks have been so busy...I just haven't made the time to sit down and write out a good blog entry about what's been going on with the mister. This post is mostly words instead of pics, so you're just going to have to read to see what Kyle's been up to!

  • About 3 weeks ago, he decided he wanted nothing to do with Matt. They got along fine as long as I wasn't in the room. But once Kyle saw me, he'd fuss and squirm to get out of Matt's arms so I could hold him. Poor Matt. We both know that babies do this, but I think it still hurt Matt's feelings a little. Luckily, this week Kyle is all about daddy! :)
  • Kyle has gotten two new chompers! The poor kid teethes for like a month! We thought he was getting new teeth at the beginning of the month, but they've just now started pushing through. Kyle's been such a champ about it; it's been much easier than it was for the first two teeth.
  • Let's see...oh, he's wanting to be more mobile. But not enough to make a huge effort at trying. I've been putting his toys just out of reach to see if he'll get on all fours to get them, or get on his tummy and try to scoot to the toys. But no, if he can't reach he just finds something else close by and makes do with that. :)
  • He's been doing lots of jibber-jabbering which is adorable. I've made the decision that his first official word is "Up." Matt doesn't agree, but since he's not writing this post, he has no say. Kyle says "up" or something very close to it all the time. It's either "up" or "ooop." So cute!
  • The boy is strong-willed and knows what he wants (or doesn't want). Just an FYI, if you're going to hold him, it's a must that you put one arm across his back and hold onto his shoulder...tightly. His new thing this week is to get frustrated or mad and fling himself backward as hard as he can. It's very dramatic and might be effective if he flips out of our grasp and ends up on the floor!
  • So in order to avoid the back arching, it's best to not lie him down after a bath, or to put his jammies on. Or to do anything else that will set him off...he'll let you know if he doesn't like it. :)
  • Kyle loves to eat. He gets that from Matt for sure. He's had quite a repetoire of foods since we've started solids. Luckily, he likes everything we've given him. He's tried: applesauce, bananas, watermelon, canteloupe, pears, peaches, mangos, blueberries, plums, green beans, peas, sweet potatoes, red potatoes, squash and avocado. Oh, and ice cream!
  • The most exciting thing actually happened today. He started to clap! What's even better is Matt was at home the first time he did it. Matt usually doesn't get to see Kyle's 'firsts' since he's at work, but he was home this afternoon and we were all in the living room together. Matt started singing "If You're Happy and You Know It" and Kyle started clapping his hands together! It was so cute! We cheered him onand he just kept clapping!
Here's a few pics of the cutie. Just so you know, I do put clothes on him when we leave the house. But it's so stinking hot that I don't even bother when we're just hanging out at home.
