So we ordered the boys pepperoni pizza and baked mac and cheese. Total kid fare. They were going to love it. Right? Wrong.
Well, Kyle loved his pizza because he could eat pizza every single day without complaint.
Beck, on the other hand, wanted nothing to do with his mac and cheese. In fact, he threw a temper tantrum when Matt tried to give it to him. He slammed his hands on the table, threw the pieces of food on the floor and yelled. Loudly. (This child has been throwing tantrums since he was about 10 months old. Is this normal? Are we in for a real treat when he turns two?)
Then he kept reaching towards Matt's plate and making his 'uh-uh' sounds. After several attempts at the mac and cheese, we finally figured out that he wanted Matt's sandwich. His grown up sandwich. His turkey, cheese, bacon, avocado, tomato, and spicy chile sauce on sourdough bread sandwich. The kind of sandwich that's so thick that it hardly fits in our mouth, let alone a 12 month old's mouth.
But that's what he wanted. As soon as Matt gave him a bite, Beck was in sandwich heaven. He ate half of the sandwich and probably would've eaten more if we'd let him. That's right. Don't try to feed this kid a 'kid's meal.'
