As you know, Beck is a climber. He's been climbing on things since he was about 9 months old. And it's just getting worse. There is no way to baby proof our home from him.
Let's take a look at what the boy can do, shall we?
- He can pick locks on cabinets (or just yank them so hard that the lock breaks)
- He can move chairs so he can climb on them to get on counters and tables
- He can climb up and straddle the railing of the deck
- He can pull down all the baby gates in one swift move
- If that doesn't work, he can pull his riding truck up to the gate, stand on it, then hoist himself up and over said gate
- He can climb halfway up the outdoor apartment stairs...on the OUTSIDE of the stairs...just hanging on to the railing
- He can stack any toy, block, box, book, cup, or plate into a handy dandy self-made ladder
For the most part, we just roll with it and just do the best we can to keep him safe. We're seriously considering buying those cushy gymnastics mats, nailing them to the playroom walls and floors, then putting a drain in the middle of the room. Our very own padded room where we can hose the boys down and get all the boy grime off at the end of the day. I personally think it's genius.
Here's just a little snapshot (or two) of the kinds of things Beck does on a daily basis.
