Leo's Adventures with Kyle

Each week in Kyle's class, a child gets to take home Leo the Lion for the weekend. The teacher's send home a bag with Leo and a sheet of paper so the kids can write about and paste photos documenting their adventures with Leo.

IT'S A BIG DEAL!

All the kids know how special it is to take Leo home for the weekend. They're responsible for him for FIVE WHOLE DAYS...making sure he has fun, gets lots of love, and makes it back to preschool in one piece.

Kyle and I had been wondering when it would be his turn, but we figured it was coming up very soon. Lo and behold, when I picked him up last Thursday there he was holding Leo and the bag was slung over his shoulder.

Now in case you don't remember, Kyle isn't one for...shall we say...responsibility or keeping up with things. He can never find his shoes because 1) he kicks them off wherever he happens to be standing and 2) he never actually LOOKS for them.

Anywho...

I tell you what, this boy was one proud, happy, and responsible caregiver this weekend for Leo! He was so very excited about it being his turn to care for Leo. Just walking from school to the car, his chest was all puffed up with pride at being the chosen one for the weekend!

That lion never left his arms for more than five minutes. And if Kyle noticed he was missing, he went on a serious hunt looking for Leo! He talked to Leo, 'fed' him his meals, and of course we went on some adventures.

Here are some of the photos I snapped of Kyle and his new bud Leo!

Kyle would make a fantastic goalie one day!
