We have the new sprinkler system installation that's been going on since the beginning of April. Matt has been installing it by himself and is doing a great job, but it's taking forever because...well because he only has a limited amount of time after work and weekends. But he did say there is light at the end of the tunnel. Hallelujah!
And next we have our kitchen appliance update project. We bought a new cooktop, microwave and double oven recently. We love the cooktop and microwave, but we need to exchange the double oven for a different size to fit in the cut out. No biggie, right? Well, when July 9 rolls around and Sears can finally deliver the one we need, we will have been without an oven for 10 weeks! TEN WEEKS people! Do you know how much you really use your oven? No? Well try going without one for just a few days and you'll get a taste of life in our kitchen.
I do have to say that the empy cut out looks waaaay better than the antiques we had before.

Whew, that's enough projects for any family to deal with, right? But wait, there's more!
As of this past Saturday morning, we now have this to deal with...

We'd been planning to take out the carpet in our room anyway, but it wasn't on our to do list for Saturday morning.
Long story made short: We noticed plumbing problems Saturday morning, noticed the sewer-thing bubbling on the street, called the city to come look into it, found out some genius who lives on our street has been flushing shop towels down his/her toilet, which in turn clogs up the line because those things are not degradable. Unfortunately for us, we live on the lowest point of the street so we're the first ones who get to deal with this type of thing. Just so everyone knows, it is NOT OK to flush whatever you feel like down the toilet. You'd think the person would at least be concerned about clogging up his own pipes! Sigh.
No, insurance won't cover our damage (thankfully it was minimal), however they do have a plan that we can buy that will cover this type of stuff. How convenient.
I have a sign up sheet ready to send out for anyone who feels the urge to stop what they're doing and come put our home back together again! :)
You poor thing. When it rains it pours! I know all those projects are a pain in the butt but it will be worth it. We are always in the middle of several projects at the same time too. We are about to start our bathrooms. ick. As far as your oven goes, yeah, you use it more than you think but a toaster oven and a grill are good substitutes. As long as you are not doing much entertaining. We cooked in a small pyrex in the toaster oven for a few months a while back and it worked quite well. And you can bake in the grill too. Good luck!
