Thanksgiving 2011 and Our First Roadtrip

This year we went to Oklahoma for Thanksgiving. It was our first roadtrip with the four of us! It went about how we expected. It's normally a 2 1/2-3 hour drive, but now that we have a just potty trained kiddo (woot! woot!) and an infant who doesn't like to be in his carseat, the trip easily turned into 4 hours. The trip up to Oklahoma was good...about normal. The trip home, however, was a different story. We took the dogs home with us and wouldn't you know they were the ones making the trip so long! I think we stopped no less than 10 times for Kyle's potty breaks and to get the dogs unwrapped from their leashes and at one point we stopped three times in about three miles! Ah well. We made it up there and back safely and that's all that matters.

Anyway, we had a really good time with my family this year. My brother made a yummy fried turkey (great job Zac!) and we had all the fixings to go along with it. As usual, there was too much good food and we totally stuffed ourselves.

The weather was beautiful on Thanksgiving so we spent a lot of time outside keeping Kyle busy. He had a great time riding his Plasma Car down the steep driveway. Actually, we all had fun doing it!

The next day was cruddy weather and poor Matt was starting to get sick. So we took it easy then went to mom's studio to do some painting. I'd been bugging Matt about going up there to paint for a long time because I really thought he'd enjoy it and be good at it. He kept putting me off, but finally relented, and guess what?! I was right! :)

We really enjoyed our time with family for Thanksgiving and are so thankful that everyone is just a few hours away!

LOVE this smile!

The big kid had to get in on the action too!

Love how he runs EVERYWHERE!
